I have known Gregory Burrus for over ten years. I first encountered his intellect and with when were members of a National IT organization. I came to know him better when I decided to take the dive or should I say the plunge into starting my own business. I could not have had a more welcomed traveler with me. When I let him know that I had embarked upon this journey he offered his assistance. The assistance took the form of a sounding board and then as a motivator. Somewhere along the way it morphed into him developing a website for me. This website was invaluable for me because it seemed that everyone that I wanted to work with expected my company to have a website. Those without one were looked at as ‘suspect’. I did not know what I wanted the look and feel to be, but Greg jumped in and made those decisions with my limited input. When you are starting a business so many things are important and appear to be urgent so you get stretched and stressed. It was so wonderful to have a ‘take charge’ and knowledgeable person to rely on. Now after my first full year in business I know more about what I want to do. Whatever I have been able to ‘dream up’ Greg has had the technical and practical answers for me. My mode of operation is to call Greg and say ‘I need to think out loud’, which translates into I need to babble or more positively, I need to share a stream of consciousness. He is patient to listen, to hear what it is that I am saying and to determine if there is anything he needs to do other than just listen. When I finally get through ‘streaming’ he offers his comments and interjects what he can do to help. The last time I had a ‘thought’ he took the core and expanded it into a offering of products and services. This is the type of person that you need to help you from the beginning of your business and all the way to the top. What I appreciate about him, is not only is his intelligent, creative and resourceful. |
